I am interested in applying for a teaching position, on the elementary level, in your district. I am
a 2013 graduate from Manhattan College with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary
Education. I student taught in a fifth grade and a third grade classroom at your school during the
2013 school year.
I have experienced teaching at P.S. 81 in two separate classrooms. I thoroughly enjoyed the
collaboration that the teachers had with each other in the grades. They not only focused on their
own classrooms but all the classes in the grade. I loved working closely with all the teachers in
both the fifth and third grade. I have also experienced the wonderful learning environment and
the passion for diversity and respect throughout the school.
My passion for teaching aligns with many of the mission statements of P.S. 81. I am currently
attending Manhattan College to achieve my Masters Degree in Special Education. I feel it is
crucial for schools to provide intervention services to struggling students, and P.S. 81 does an
exceptional job in caring for struggling students. I experienced many students that were
struggling throughout my student teaching experience and proper services were always provided
when needed.
My greatest strengths are inspiring students to learn and to learn to love learning. I feel it is
beyond important for students to work together and learn not only from the teacher but from each
other. I feel that the most efficient way for students to learn is through each other.
I look forward to discussing the many ways that I can make a positive impact on the students in
