Even Geniuss Work Hard

Even Geniuses Work Hard is a captivating article in which the author, Carol Dweck, describes the
different mindsets towards intelligence while focusing specifically on the advantage of having a growth
mindset over a fixed mindset. After reading the article I have come to determine that I am of a fixed
mindset. This is because I am more extrinsically motivated by the grade or mark on a paper versus the
actual knowledge obtained. The important elements that I drew from the article were the positive and
negative effects of students having a fixed mindset over a growth mindset. The author writes from a
position in favor of a growth mindset. Because of this, I have also gained insight on how to educate my
students who have a different mindset than I do. I have learned advice on what works in classroom
settings for the benefit of all students and have begun to formulate ways of incorporating the
knowledge into my own classroom.
