Espaol 1 Traditional Foods Project

3rd quarter Project grade (100 points)

Step 1: Choose one Spanish-speaking country (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El


Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico,
Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain,
Equatorial Guinea)
Step 2: Research the typical foods of the country you selected.
What are some common ingredients?
What does a typical breakfast, lunch, dinner consist of?
What are some desserts?
Are there any special traditions or eating habits that are different than in the
U.S. involving how or when people eat?
Step 3: Research holidays in that country and what types of foods are eaten. Choose at
least one holiday to focus on (your choice)
*What are the most popular holidays and festivals in that country?
*What are some traditions and customs of those holidays?
*What foods are eaten during the celebration?
*Think about what you do in your own family
Step 4: Make a Power Point Presentation (minimum of 10 slides)
Title Slide-your names, name of country
3 slides each containing a picture and description of a different traditional
dish 1 for each meal (List ingredients in Spanish)

1 slide containing a picture and description of a traditional dessert (ingredients in


Spanish)
1 slide with information about what people drink in your chosen country
1 slide of other facts or information about eating traditions or customs in that
country (English)
1 slide about a holiday you researched and what is eaten during that holiday
(English)
1 comparison slide about your own culture, foods you eat and 1 holiday you
celebrate (English)
1 slide at the end to cite the websites you found your information

We will share the presentations on Wednesday December 17 and Thursday


December 18 in class. Please save it to Srta. Hs flash drive or your own to be ready to
share with the class. You may work with a partner or on your own. No groups larger
than 3.

*Bonus* (optional) Bring in a food or drink that you researched the day that you
present in class. (or something similar to what you researched)
