Dear Senior Exploration Judge:

Senior year is a very stressful and worrisome time for most high school seniors. It contains a
whirlwind of emotions, drama, applications, and school/work on top of everything.
Personally, it has been rather crazy, between keeping up grades, my personal issues such as
work, family, and my extracurricular activities. I believe that you should know, that my main
motivation for getting through school, is my late father. When I was a child, he would always
push me to get good grades, and would assist me when I needed it most.
I chose to research Pediatric Speech Pathology, because my cousin, has DiGeorge syndrome,
causing him to have a severe speech and hearing impediment. Almost nobody could
understand what he was saying, except me. I went with him to several of his speech lessons,
and would often end up having to basically translate what he was saying to his pathologist.
Becoming a Pediatric Speech Pathologist, will help me to understand more about speech, and
why things such as impediments occur. I very much enjoyed helping my cousin with his
syndrome at home, and now he is doing much better with his speech. I want to become a
Speech Pathologist so that I can help children develop correctly and efficiently.
Thank you for your time in reading my letter, taking the time to view my presentation, and
your interest. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Michaela Jae McAndrew
