In May 2012, I graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education specializing in Elementary and Middle School Mathematics. I have successfully completed Praxis I and II testing requirements and the New York State Teacher Certification Exams. I will graduate from Manhattan College with my Masters in Special Education in February 2014. Based on your commitment to promoting lifelong learning, developing a close community between the school and families, and encouraging both academic and personal growth in each student, I would be honored to be considered for a teaching position. I enjoy every aspect of teaching and working with special education students. Through my current teaching position in addition to my undergraduate and graduate coursework, I have gained considerable experience and knowledge in working with students with disabilities. I have worked with a range of students, including students with Aspergers, ADHD, and specific learning disabilities. My education and experiences have taught me the importance of being flexible, patient, and encouraging in a special education classroom. I work hard to meet the needs of my students by working closely with each student, personalizing instruction, and providing individualized support. I am always looking for new approaches in order to make the material accessible to each of my students. I have developed and implemented class lesson plans, differentiated my instruction to meet the individual needs of all my students, and incorporated the use of technology in my lessons. Since parent communication is vital to a students academic success, I maintain contact with my students families through behavior raters, newsletters, participation in after school clubs, and parent-teacher conferences. To improve my instruction, I also maintain communication with other professionals and specialists who work with my students. Thank you for consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my qualifications and experiences in more detail. I hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely,
