    A comma indicates a short pause like


    Suddenly, there was a loud clap of thunder.
    Without warning, the skies opened and rain pelted down.
    A comma is used after an adverb or adverbial phrase at the
    beginning of a sentence .

    Pairs of commas are like adding another piece of information
    or detail to the object or thing. Commas can also be used to
    separate items in list but the list must have at least three
    items in it. Don't use a comma to join words up or to join to
    words . Comma's are used to separate lists of adjectives and
    comma's help us to avoid repeating "AND" over and over
    again !
