This artifact is a unit intended for an 8th grade Spanish I class.

The unit
introduces different sports and sports vocabulary that will help the students
exchange information and ask and answer different questions in regards to the
topic. Included in the unit are lessons that incorporate vocabulary practices,
cultural topics, and a technology lesson. This artifact demonstrates my
proficiency in this standard because I was able to create objectives using central
topics required for that specific unit. I was also able to structure the unit in a way so
that each day was connected and so the lessons would not feel out of place. I was
also able to create a unit that built off of the units that were taught in the past. The
students need to know previous vocabulary and grammar in order to move forward
and have success with this unit. I was also able to incorporate what the students
enjoy into this unit, which increases the students engagement to what I will be
teaching them. Another reason that this artifact demonstrates my proficiency is that
I was able to incorporate different supplementary resources and technologies in
order to reach each student in the classroom. This artifact contributes to positive
impact on student learning because it will help students develop skills needed in
order to exchange information using the target language in real world situations.
This artifact also demonstrates how the students will be using the ACTFL Standards,
which are all incorporated into this unit, and also shows how the students will be
using the three modes of communication: Interpersonal, Interpretive, and
Presentational, which is important because it allows for students to practice
reading, writing, and speaking using the target language. This unit plan
demonstrates the Planning-Teaching-Learning cycle because it allowed me to use

what the students had successfully learned in the previous units of this course and
gave me the opportunity to plan an entire unit on my own. I have also built in
summative assessments at the end of the unit in order to check if the unit was
successful.
