Glossary: Below I provide a short hand glossary to supplement my Daily Unit

TXT: Any mentor text not generated by myself or a student (current or previous)
o LOF: Lord of the Flies
NOV: The paperback copy of the story
EBK: The electronic copy of the story
ADB: The Audiobook version of the story
F64: The film adaptation of the story from 1960
F90: The film adaptation of the story from 1990
o H&H: Hyperbole and a Half
o MGT: An example/model of a multigenre text for students.
MAT: Any materials that I have created or found to supplement instruction
o PWP: PowerPoint presentation
o FCL: Film Clip
o IMG: Image or multimodal text
o OAC: Overarching concept i.e. What is war, and how am I affected by it.
o WBS: A website that has educational potential
o WFB: A workshop feedback form
o ACS: Art and Craft supplies
o GML: Grammar Mini Lesson
o HDO: A handout that explore a particular topic or concept
A&A: Any activity or assignment that students will engage, not always graded
o RQZ: Reading Quiz
o DSC: Discussion based activity
o VCC: Vocabulary Charts
o RSL: Research Logs
o REP: Repetends
o MGP: Multigenre Research Project
o HDO: A handout that explore a particular topic or concept
o GTG: Genre text generation class time
o GML: Grammar Mini Lesson
o CON: Conference with struggling students
o PRZ: Presentations of Multigenre Research Projects
T&M: Any tools or manipulatives that the students or myself use in class
o SMB: SmartBoard
o NTB: Netbooks (laptops) Composition notebooks are alternatives
o VCC: Vocabulary Charts
o RSL: Research Logs
COT: This address where Co-Teaching supplements instruction
o SST: Social Studies Teacher
o CSS: Core Social Studies class taught by Social Studies Teacher
o GTG: Genre text generation class time
WKS: This denotes times when student will be revising and reviewing their work
HMW: Any material assigned to students to be done outside of classthis includes
scaffolding or modeling for future A&A.
