Pupil Premium funding 2014/15

At North Wheatley C of E (C) Primary School, we believe that all our children have an equal entitlement, and
should have an equal opportunity to:

Develop imagination and creativity

Acquire skills and abilities
Have a love of learning

Schools receives funding from the Government to support it in trying to meet this aspiration. This is known as the
Pupil Premium. Pupil premium is additional funding, from the government, provided to schools for supporting
more pupils from low income families to ensure they benefit from the same opportunities as all other children.
There are three categories of children that qualify for pupil premium:

Children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM) or were eligible in the last 6 years.
Looked after children
Armed forces children

It is for schools to decide how the Pupil premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional
provision should be made for the individual pupils for whom they are responsible.
Funding allocation
In the financial year 2014-15 pupil premium funding is 1,300/pupil. Our school received 2,600 in pupil
premium funding.
Our 2,600 was used to help fund:
Wrap around care ( Early Birds and Night Owls)
Maths intervention sessions to ensure pupils make good, or better, progress
Delivery by an experienced teacher of singing and music sessions to build gifts and talents.
Access for pupils to a wide range of different curriculum enrichment opportunities (cookery lessons,
school visits, theatre groups)
Access to residential opportunities for pupils where applicable.
Subscription to online learning activities to support learning at home (espresso, I am learning,
rmeasimaths)
The academic outcomes for pupils who are eligible for FSM and pupil premium pupils at North Wheatley C of E
Primary School are inline to those of pupils at the school who are not eligible for FSM/PP. The performance of
the FSM children at our school is in line with, or exceeds, the national average for FSM pupils.
A more detailed pupil by pupil analysis and evaluation of impact is undertaken by the school and presented to
the Governing Body who challenge the findings. This is not shared on this website as our small pupil numbers
would result in a lack of pupil confidentiality.
Who is eligible for Free School Meals?
We encourage all parents and carers to ensure that staff at our school know whether their child is entitled to
Free School Meals or has a parent who is a member of the armed services. If you think your child is eligible,
please speak to our office staff who can assist you in completing an application. Parents can register their child
for Free School Meals if they are in receipt of any of the following benefits:

Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance

Income support
Income-related Employment Support Allowance
Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
Child Tax Credit, provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income, as
assessed by HM Revenue and Customs, that does not exceed 16,190
Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
Working Tax Credit 'run-on' - the payment someone may receive for a further four weeks after they stop
qualifying for Working Tax Credit.
