GENERAL INFORMATION FOR NEW FAMILIES

Welcome to Bega Preschool

Bega Preschool is a community based preschool. We have been successfully operating for over 50 years. We look
forward to a collaborative learning partnership with you and your child.
The preschool is managed by a Parent Committee who is responsible for the overall operations of the preschool,
including legal, financial, employment, planning and policy making.

Hours of Operation
Our hours are 8.15am – 3.45pm.
Educational program is 9.00am - 3.00pm.
The preschool operates during Department of Education school terms and breaks for the same holidays.

What you need to bring to preschool everyday

 A bag or backpack – large enough to fit all belongings and artwork.
 Piece of fruit (part of our Munch & Crunch program) – in a small separate container with child’s name.
 Lunch Box – please ensure your child is provided with a filling and healthy lunch box with enough food for
two meal breaks. We encourage package-free food options. Thermal lunch boxes are not required as lunch
boxes are kept refrigerated all day. Due to space in our fridges we ask that you not use padded/bulky thermal
lunch boxes.
 Sun-safe broad brimmed hat, no caps please - clearly labelled with your child’s name.
 A change of clothing including socks.
 The safest footwear for your child at preschool is sturdy shoes (no thongs please as these are safety hazards).
 Drink bottle with water only please – clearly labelled with your child’s name.

We aim to encourage good eating habits at preschool.

Please do not send chocolate, chips, or lollies to preschool

Our environment is NUT FREE: please do not send any type of nuts, peanut butter or Nutella in your child’s lunch
box.

Enrolling your child
The following are required for the complete enrolment for your child (please note – these documents are to be
supplied to the preschool prior to your child starting)

 Immunisation
We are required by law to hold a copy of your child’s immunisation status from the Australian Immunisation
Register (AIR) History Statement, which can be accessed through your myGov account under the Medicare
section.
Children who have not been immunised due to their parent’s vaccine Conscientious Objection cannot be
enrolled in an Early Childhood Service, however they can be enrolled if they are on a catch up program,
please provide relevant proof.
Children, who are not fully immunised for their age, are no longer permitted to enrol in an Early Childhood
Service unless they have a medical certificate from their Doctor, which precludes them from being immunised
due to medical reasons.

 Fees
Families are asked to pay a $50.00 non-refundable enrolment fee after they are sent, and accept, a Letter of
Offer for their child to attend preschool the following year.
The NSW Government is providing fee relief to families through the Start Strong Affordable Preschool
initiative as part of the Early Years Commitment.
From 2023, families with children who are enrolled in a community preschool service may save up to $4,220
each year.
How the fee relief works:
* The funding for your child's fee relief will be provided to our preschool, directly from the NSW
Government, and we will pass this fee relief on to you, effectively giving you free preschool for the year for
your child.
* You cannot receive fee relief at more than one early childhood education service.
* If your child will be attending another service (community preschool or a long day care service), you will
need to nominate which service to receive fee relief.
* If you do not choose Bega Preschool then fees will be charged.
* You need to fill in the form attached and return it with your child’s enrolment form. The signed forms
will stay at preschool in your child’s enrolment record and be made available to the Department of Education
upon request.

 To finalise your enrolment we require all the above details. (If you are unable to provide these details please
