OUR PEDAGOGY

Our Vision

To nurture a community where all children feel loved, respected and encouraged to develop to their full
potential.

Our Mission

To inspire a life-long love for learning in each child in a safe, respectful, inclusive and nurturing
environment.

Our Philosophy

We believe that children have the innate curiosity to learn and explore from a very young age. We strive
to enhance their learning experiences by supporting them with the understanding of their world and their
place in it.

Our Values

We honor every child as a strong, capable and resilient; rich with knowledge and wonder. We value the
importance of active involvement in learning through play. Every child is capable of constructing their own
learning and in negotiating with everything the environment brings to them. Relationships and
interactions with the family, with other children, with the teachers, with the environment of the school,
with the community, and with the wider society as perceived interconnected and reciprocal, are activated
and supported.

Our Curriculum

Emergent learning is at the heart of our curriculum. Our curriculum topics are built around a series of
inquiries that grow out of the children’s authentic interests as well as from quality interaction with
children and their families. Teachers and children work hand in hand together as we explore, experiment,
investigate. Together with the power of the children’s boundless curiosity, we immerse the children in the
process and joys of real discovery.

Children may be involved in several in-depth projects throughout the year. These projects are thorough
studies of concepts and ideas based on the information gathered about children’s interests. Teachers act

4
as partners on these projects, guiding their learning journeys by introduction of new ideas and concepts
in multiple forms, such as print, art, drama, music, puppetry, movement and so on. Such diverse
presentations offer children different perspectives about the world.

As part of a holistic development, children will also participate in weekly enrichment program such as Art,
Yoga, etc conducted by professionals.

Our Environment

Our environment is our “third teacher”. Great care is taken to construct an open, free-flowing and
stimulating environment that allows for uninterrupted exploration, play and learning. Children also take
their learning experiences outdoors as we bring their classroom to greater heights and lengths. We aim
to provide a warm, safe and nurturing environment which will cultivate children's optimal social and
emotional growth as well as their physical and intellectual skills.

SCHOOL GUIDELINES

Settling in Children

During the settling-in period in the first 5 days, there are no fixed rules about how long parents stay in the
classroom; each family and child is different. You can stay and play with your child as long as you and the
teacher feel it is beneficial for your child. If you feel that your child is ready, we ask that you first go and
have a coffee for 10-15minutes, and then come back, to ensure that all is well. Please let your class teacher
know before you leave and say goodbye to your child. Making these changes clear to your child is
important for his/her confidence and transition.

Sending Children to School

Our program starts at 9:30 am and we ask that the children be at school slightly before this time.
Parents and children are to remove their shoes before they enter the school. A temperature check may
be conducted on your child upon entering the school. If your child registers a temperature of above
37.8OC or shows other symptoms of being unwell, he/she will not be allowed to attend school.

Picking Up Children and late penalty charge

Please be punctual with the pick-up time at 12 noon. If in an unexpected situation that you are not able
to pick up your child on time, we ask you to contact the office immediately. Fees may be incurred if you
have more than two late pick-ups, which we will invoice together with the term fees. The fees collected
from late pick-ups will be contributed to the school fund.

Authorised personnel for pick up

Only authorised personnel appointed by you will be allowed to pick up your child. If there is a last-
minute change in pick up, and the person is not included in the authorised list, it is the responsibility of
the parents to inform the school via e-mail or a by phone with the person’s name, contact number,
NRIC/FIN/Passport number.

10
Dressing your child

All children will wear Kinderstori uniform to school. Please ensure your child is dressed in comfortable
bottoms and walking shoes that will not restrict movement, provide safety, and can sustain wear and tear
as they engage in our active learning activities. Expensive outfits should be avoided for daily school wear.

Emergency
In the event of an emergency, we will take the child to the nearest hospital or doctor. We will try our best
to contact the parents or primary care-giver. If neither parent can be reached, we will contact the
emergency number you have provided us at the time of registration. If this number is changed, please
keep our school informed in writing. In cases where both parents are travelling simultaneously, please
inform your child’s class teacher/front office of emergency contact numbers. All bills related to the
medical care will be passed on to the parents.

Snack
A light snack will be provided in the middle of the day. While we encourage children to try new food, we
do not require them to eat or finish their snacks.

Parents as Partners

who wish to volunteer at our school to support in one way or another.
