Guam

Similar to the United States, Guams government is


runned by the three branches of government. This
keeps the nation and its people in order to never over
weigh yet balance one another. Each branch needs one
another to run and function its government properly.
Guam does not have a president.

Legislative Branch:
Edward J. Baza Calvo, who is also a
member of the Rupublican Party,
has been Guams current governor
since 2011.

o Unicameral body
o 15 senators
o Elected to serve two-year terms

Executive Branch:
o Edward J. Baza Calvo
o Ray Tenorio

Judicial Branch:
Ray Tenorio is Calvos right
hand man. He is also Guams
current Lieutenant Governor
since 2011.

o Certain rights and protection under


the U.S. Constitution
o Set laws and policies for the island

Background
On December 8th, 1941, Japan attacked Guam and
its people. After the conclusion of World War II,
Guam became an unincorporated United States
territory in 1950; thus giving Guams natives U.S.
citizenship.
