Our first reaction facing a disaster situation is to help. There are
mechanisms or established procedures and it corresponds the government, with the help of the agencies specialized in disasters and the Red Cross, to gather and to distribute. Passing the emergency, the help falls but it is the moment when more help is needed for long-term recovery. There are dishonest people that takes advantage of the good- hearted ones, intending to intermediate donations and there is others with good will, but without know-how, that can complicate more the things, trying to help. Where can one help? The parameter is "trust." It is necessary to look for organizations that have transparent public management and that have proved that they are able to put most of each dollar collected in their programs.
