disease burden and between 7% and 41% of certain cancer burdens are attributable to overweight and
obesity.
The six-week program will measure weight, the waist and body fat during sign-up and
again when the program is complete. The program includes health education programs,
wellness exam, nutrition review, monthly maintenance meetings, group exercise and improving
eating habits. Women will learn how to increase physical activity and decrease food by 5001000 calories/day, to shed pounds. The women will learn to identify and reduce fats and
sugars; increase fruits and vegetables; increase fiber for appetite control and exercise at least
150 minutes/week, consistent with the Healthy People 2020 advice.
According to Andrew Wolf, M.S. ED. Exercise Specialist with Miraval Resorts, A pound
of human body fat is the size of a really big orange or a small grapefruit, Think of exercise as
an accumulation of calorie burning that occurs over seven days not whether or not you did 3045 minutes on the treadmill today, says Wolf. Stop, Pause, Rewind, will teach women learning
skills to stop weight gain, pause hot flashes and rewind the aging process.
The kick-off for the program will be held November 16, 2014 at the Sandtown Parks and
Recreation Center where women can sign-up and talk to experts in the field who will be on
hand.
