We, The Board of Bairo Pite Clinic are very happy to support TOGETHER FOR BAIRO PITE
CLINIC and their endeavors to fundraise for the Bairo Pite Clinic Dili.. 450 km from Darwin.
We are extremely grateful that you are considering sponsoring their event.
The clinic is run by Dr Dan Murphy and treats over 200 sick people every day for free.
80 local staff operate with the help of Australian and International volunteers operate this busy
clinic.
East Timor is a small county of 1.2 million people. The country has endured a difficult time over
centuries weighed down by violence and now by poverty.

A majority of the children and adults are stunted

75% of children under 5 are significantly malnourished
Child birth kills mothers at a rate 300 times greater than in Australia
Tuberculosis is common and often lethal.
Babies and young children commonly die.

Over the past five years the Bairo Pite Clinic has achieved amazing things.

Treating 70,000 women and men as outpatients each year

Caring for up to 2000 inpatients every year.
Diagnosing and treating one third of all TB infected patients in Timor
Helping mothers and children survive child birth.

All of this is achieved in basic conditions at minimal cost, however we need a constant stream of
funds to keep this going.
