Charity A Information Sheet: Cancer Research UK

We’re the world’s leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through

research. We’ve saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent,
diagnose and treat cancer.

Cancer survival is improving and has doubled over the past 40 years in the UK –
now half of people diagnosed with cancer survive their disease for ten years or
more, thanks to research.

We fund research into more than 200 types of cancer, including the one that’s
most important to you. From the most common – such as breast, bowel, lung
and prostate cancers – to rare types of tumour and children’s cancers, we
support groundbreaking science that benefits everyone.

When you give money, you help our scientists get closer to finding a cure.

Giving as little as £2 a month could fund something as big as a new research

centre or as small as glass slides to analyse cancer cells.
Charity B Information Sheet: Dogs Trust

Our mission is to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free
from the threat of unnecessary destruction.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and last year alone we
cared for nearly 17,000 dogs. Most dogs find loving new homes within
about six weeks but those who need a little extra care are always safe with
us because we never destroy a healthy dog.

Dogs Trust is reliant on the generosity of the public to help dogs in need, so
by sponsoring a dog for as little as £1 per week means you won’t just be
helping your sponsor dog but all their friends too!

With more than 1,400 stray and abandoned dogs in our care at any one
time, we really need your help. We receive no government funding and are
totally dependent on the generosity of people like you.

When you decide to sponsor a dog you'll receive three updates a year from
your chum and a sponsorship pack, including a special photo certificate of
your new pal, a wallet-sized sponsor's card, a window sticker and fridge
magnet.
Charity C Information Sheet: Zoe’s Place Baby
Hospice, Middlesbrough

The staff at Zoë’s Place provide care and support 24hrs a day for both the child
and family. We are here to offer respite care through the most difficult of
times to ensure the needs of the child and their families are met.
The staff of Zoë’s Place consist of a mixture of registered and support staff and
are experienced in caring for children with life-limiting and/or life-threatening
conditions. Additionally we work closely with other healthcare professionals to
ensure the care we provide will allow a child to reach his or her full potential.
All of the babies at the Hospice have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition
and require differing levels of 24 hour support on a one to one basis. Zoë’s
Place offers our parents and carers a chance to recharge their batteries or to
spend time with their other children.
The value of this respite care to our families cannot be underestimated and
many families tell us that they simply would not be able to cope without the
help and support of our team.
Our Hospice is designed to be a `home away from home’ in which the babies
feel comfortable and are able to get the most out of our very special facilities.
Charity D Information Sheet: Water Aid

Right now, the world’s poorest people do not have access to safe water,
sanitation or hygiene. This crisis is ruining lives and holding back development.

Clean drinking water, proper toilets and good hygiene are essential, yet
millions of people don’t have access to these basic services.

Across the world, women are forced to waste precious time walking long
distances to collect dirty water. Girls are dropping out of school because there
are no private toilets, and young children are not surviving to see their fifth
birthday because of preventable diseases.

650 million people don’t have access to safe water. Without this basic service,
they have no choice but to drink dirty water that could kill them.

Can you imagine life without safe water to drink? For millions of people it's a
daily reality. Everyone everywhere needs a safe and sustainable supply of
water: for drinking, washing, cleaning, cooking and growing food. It’s a basic
human right.
