multiple OH groups.
 Disaccharides - 2 monosaccharides covalently
linked.

covalently linked.

chains of monosaccharide or disaccharide
units.

Function

The function of carbohydrates in the our body is:

1. Its main function as an energy source
2. Helps metabolize fats and proteins
3. In the hepar function to detox toxic substances
4. Lactose works to help the absorption of calcium.
Ribose is an important component in nucleic acids
5. In addition, some classes of carbohydrates that
can not be digested, containing fiber (dietary
fiber) is useful for digestion
Abnormalities/disorders
Malnutrition is the status of a person with a
lack of nutrition, or
Nutrients below the average standard.
Malnutrition status is divided into three parts,
Namely malnutrition due to lack of protein
(called kwashiorkor), because
Lack of carbohydrates or calories (called
marasmus)
Abnormalities/disorders

1. Marasmus
A. The child appears very thin because of the
loss of most fat and muscle
Muscle, living bone wrapped in skin
B. Face like a parent
C. Immortal ribs and a concave stomach
D. Thigh muscles relax (baggy pant)
E. Cries and fuss, after getting a child's meal
still feels hungry (Depkes RI, 2000)
