Please respond to the following prompts:

1. Summarize the key points you learned from this Professional Development experience.
What I learned from participating in WVSUs 5K is the importance of maintaining a
healthy lifestyle and that one can do so throughout their whole life. There were people
of all ages participating in this race, from elementary school kids to a couple people well
in their 50s and 60s. Being a part of this activity really made me start thinking about
how I can start adapting my current lifestyle into a more healthy one so I can keep my
health throughout my life.

2. Discuss how these key points connect to your content area.

Im an elementary ed major, and if there is anything I learned from my Methods of
Elementary PE class it is that we want to get children to enjoy physical activity as young
as possible because active children are more likely to become active adults. Being in this
race really reminded me of all of the info I learned in Professor Anderson-Conliefs class
and how it is part of my job as an educator to encourage my students to be physically fit
and to lead a healthy, happy lifestyle.

3. Share how you might use this new information in your future classroom.
I most likely wont be teaching my students PE because most schools have a certified PE
teacher for that, but I could do little things with my class to promote a healthy lifestyle.
For example, I could take them on walks outside as a reward on Fridays. I could also
have them stand up and do some kind of locomotor movement for 30 seconds in
between activity transitions. Just anything that gets them moving and that gets their
heart rate up.
