Notes from Parents' Forum meeting

Held on 13th January 2015 at North Wheatley School.


In attendance: Jo Hall (head teacher), Elizabeth Stanley ( Chair of Governors and
note taker), Sally Taylor, Helen Riley, Rachel Smith, Louise Dixon, Kimberly
Goodwin ( parent governor ), Heather Qualter ( parent ), Jenny Barber ( parent
and midday supervisor)
Positive behaviour strategies: Mrs Hall outlined the positive behaviour
strategies that the school employs. The strategies become more formal from
Year 1 onwards.
She described the

Traffic light system,


'Proud Cloud' in Class 1
'Team Point ' system in Class 2 & 3.
'Special Mention' book was discussed and how this is read out in Friday
assemblies.
Golden behaviour certificates.
The wisdom cup
Tree of Stars in the Head's office.
The head plans to increase the celebration of pupils' work.

Several of the parents commented on the positive impact on behaviour that the
new staff team had made and JB confirmed that this was also seen at lunch time.
ES reported on the Behaviour report for 2013-14 that she had presented at the
Autumn FGB. All the governors had been very happy with the behaviour they had
seen throughout school. Debbie Litchfield, the Quality assurance advisor that
had visited the school in the Sumer term had described behaviour as outstanding
and has now joined our governing body.
The pupils' School Council' had discussed playtime behaviour at their last
meeting, an issue that they had identified.
In conclusion it was felt that the positive behaviour strategies that the school is
employing are working very successfully. They encourage the pupils to make
good behaviour choices and help the pupils to work collaboratively.

There was a brief discussion on how to encourage parents to subscribe to the
school website updates. It was suggested that the school send parents a link that
will take them directly to the subscription page.
Forthcoming Parent Governor role.
Parents were informed the term of office of one of the parent governors was
coming to an end and nominations for the office would soon be asked for.
Elizabeth Stanley has drawn up an information sheet outlining the duties and
time commitment and these were distributed to interested parents. 2 meetings
are to be arranged w/c 19th January to discuss the role with parents and
Elizabeth is happy to speak with individual parents if they wish.

The meeting ended at 8.55 as Jo Hall was accompanying a Class on a visit to the
Elizabethan Academy. The next meeting and topic for discussion wasn't
arranged.
