AIF Turns Focus to Importance of Aerospace Industry in Florida as President

& CEO Tom Feeney Joins the Space Foundations Board of Directors
Tallahassee, Fla. Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) today announced that it will renew its
focus on ensuring the aerospace industry in Florida continues to grow and thrive through its
Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defense Council. This announcement comes on the same day
AIFs President & CEO, Tom Feeney, was elected to serve on the Space Foundations board of
directors in Cocoa Beach, Fla.
The aerospace industry has a long history in Florida; and, now more than ever, we should be
focusing our attention on this sector of our economy, so it can continue to grow and succeed,
said Feeney. With the shuttering of the space shuttle program, the private sector has steered the
aerospace industry down a successful path that employs Floridians who are experts in their
field.
While the industry has been successful, we must renew our focus as a state, and AIFs
Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defense Council looks forward to playing an important role in
ensuring Florida continues to be a leader in the aerospace field by advocating for policies that
make certain Floridas environment is ripe for innovation and competition, continued Feeney.
I also look forward to serving on the Space Foundations board of directors in order to bring
their knowledge to Florida and share with state leaders and key decision makers the importance
of the aerospace industry, concluded Feeney.
