According to UNICEF & United Nations Convention on Child Rights ,India is a

country with highest number of child labourers in the world . I would like to bring
to your notice of the official statistics of Child Labour in our country .
Mining and Quarrying 0.95 %
Construction -1.9 %
Transport , storage and communication 3.8 %
Community , Social & Domestic work 5.9 %
Manufacturing 8.9 %
Restaurants , Hotels , Clubs , Wholesale & Retail Trade -8.3 %
Agriculture , Forestry ( Tribal Sector ) 68 %
Poverty , lack of education and social security are the major contributors of child
labour . Laws which are formulated to protect children from hazardous labour are
ineffective and not implemented correctly .With the growth of Urbanisation , it
has become a phenomenon to use children as domestic workers .To tackle the
menace , it needs a targeted campaign with multipronged approach . Sir , this
has to be done now and immediately . AICC members should take up a task to
identify child labour . I write this letter because I feel patriotic and I consider this
to be a noble work .
