BACKGROUND
I am very well known for being a womens rights activist, an anti-war
activist, and a philanthropist. I am the eight of nine children. I was a
very privileged child as my father was a state senator and was
friends to many important people. Unfortunately, I developed health
problems at an early age which gave me some difficulty throughout
my life. Ive won a Nobel Peace Prize, I am the first woman to be the
president of the National Federation of Social Work, and I am the cofounder of the Hull House.

EXPERIENCE
Economic

The Hull house helped the poor by providing shelter and food for
them. We also provided jobs and education.

Political

I am a firm believer in peace, which is why Im a pacifist. I spoke in

many places to promote peace. I joined many organizations like the
Anti-Imperialist league, the Progressive Party, and in 1915 I
accepted the chairmanship of the Womens Peace Party.

Social

Hull House
I purchased the Hull House with my good friend Ellen Gates Starr.
We took in many European immigrants who barely came into the
US. We provided shelter for those in need. We had lessons for
people of any age.
I believed that women everywhere should stand up and let their
voices be heard. I think that women should be allowed to vote and
to hold position in the legislation.
