This course is designed for those wishing to gain the relevant skills and knowledge required to
be registered as a state or territory approved microchip implamnter fordogs and cates, It will
be necessary to ccheck with your relevant state or territory department for current licensing,
legislative or regulatiory requirements before undertaking this course

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A letter from the veterinary practitioner, agreeing to supervise the students practical placement
must accompany the enrolment for this course.

INFORMATION
This course is delivered as a self-paced course over 6 months with students having access to
online resources via a learning management platform. A teacher will be available to answer
course related questions.

HOW TO ENROL

This course requires work placement. The microchip implantation must be done under the direct
supervision of a registered veterinary practitioner who is an authorised implanter, in an actual
workplace or in a situation that reproduces normal work conditions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Post TAFE New England

This course is delivered externally and students must be able to microchip a total of 15 cats and
digs (with a minimum of 5 cats) within a sixty (60) day period under supervision.
This unit is applicable to those working in the animal care industry where it may be necessary to
implant microchips into cats or dogs.
The unit has practical and theory tasks that must be completed satisfactorily.
