Reading Response Questions

Choose one Reading Response Question from the list below. Write an
answer on the back of the Learning Log Sheet. Base your answer on the
book you read for the reading log. You may use notebook paper to write
your answer if you need additional space.
Summarize: Summarize what happened in the passage you just read.
Antonym Hunt: Find five words from the passage you just read and
write down their antonyms (opposites). Write three sentences using
them.
Reflect and Connect: What does the passage you just finished remind
you of? (Tell what the author said in the passage, and then name what
it reminded you of.)
Artist: Draw something you read about and explain why it is
important in the story.
Main Idea: Name the main idea of the passage you read. List 3 to 5
details that support the main idea.
Characterization: Compare and contrast two characters from the
story you read.
Vocabulary: Find 3 words that you read that are new to you. Use a
dictionary to find the definition of each new word.
Figurative Language: Find an example of figurative language in the
passage you read. Examples include: alliteration, hyperbole, idiom,
metaphor, onomatopoeia, personification, or simile. Tell how the
figurative language was used in your reading, and tell what you think
it means.
