Summary and Plot Diagram

A man named Borden Watson hated spotted owls.


His father lost his job with effort defending the endangered birds.
Displeased boy is willing to kill any spotted owl he sees.
While in the forest Borden finds a spotted owl fell from his nest.
He did not know that species was one of the most detested in the world,
he took her home and named Bardy.
Thinking it was an owl with stripes.
Borden and his older sister Sally are busy with school and her mother
Cindy works.
The owl grows and becomes stronger, and entoces family realizes that
hacerca day take to the jungle.
Jean Craighead George says thoughtful story masterfully Borden and
Bardy from the point of view of people and owls:
Bardy felt the heat of the body of Sally and snuggled against her.

He rolled under their sharp claws to not hurt her, as her mother had done
when she entered the nest.

Leon watched this without comment.


Then he put the raincoat and out into the rain to catch mice Bardy.

The Angeles National Forest (ANF) of the U.S. Forest Service is located in
the San Gabriel Mountains of Los Angeles County, southern California,
United States. It was established on July 1, 1908, incorporating the first
San Bernardino National Forest and parts of the former Santa Barbara and
San Gabriel National Forests.
The Angeles National Forest manages the habitats, flora and fauna
ecosystems, and watersheds. Some of the rivers with watersheds within
its boundaries provide valuable non-groundwater recharge water for
Southern California.
The San Gabriel Forest Reserve was established on December 20, 1892,
the San Bernardino Forest Reserve on February 25, 1893, and the Santa
Barbara Forest Reserve on December 22, 1903. They became National
Forests on March 4, 1907, and they were combined on July 1, 1908, with

all of the San Bernardino forest and portions of San Gabriel forest and
Santa Barbara forest composing the new Angeles National Forest.

More than 161,000 acres (650 km2) of the forest were burned by an arson
fire that began on August 26, 2009, near Angeles Crest Highway in La
Caada and quickly spread, fueled by dry brush that had not burned for
over 150 years.
