INVESTMENT COMMENTARY
The year on year inflation rate declined for the second consecutive month to
settle at 6.4% from 6.6% in September mostly from lower food, energy and
transport costs. Food prices registered a 0.5% decline during the month while
housing and electricity costs decreased by 0.2% which led to a -0.2% monthon-month inflation performance.
The 364 day T-Bill continued to see increased demand throughout the month
compared to the 91 day and the 182 day T-Bill indicating that most investors
expect interest rates to be low and contained in line with the inflation rate
expectations. The month was also characterised by increased liquidity from
the high maturities from various corporate bonds. The interbank liquidity has
remained relatively high during the month.
