American Diabetes Association Announces New Location for

Tour de Cure
Popular cycling event shifts to Niagara Falls, NYs Old Falls Street in 2015
BUFFALO, NY (1/30/2015) The American Diabetes Association today announced a
brand new locationdowntown Niagara Falls, NYfor the site of its 2015 Tour de
Cure cycling event in support of the Stop Diabetes movement. To celebrate this venue
change announcement, ADA representatives and rider team captains were joined by
corporate sponsors from Independent Health, Seneca Gaming Corporation, and General
Motors for an off-season training session on the Ice Bikes of Buffalo at Canalside.
What better way to demonstrate our excitement for the new Tour de Cure location than to
get on a bicycle, start training, and demonstrate that not even ice or a Buffalo winter can hold
back the Stop Diabetes movement, said Kelly Arthur, Tour de Cure manager. We have
many supporters throughout Western New York and are grateful for the ongoing support of an
outstanding list of corporate sponsors, team captains, riders, and participants.
This years Tour de Cure will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, with cyclists from around
the region gathering at one of five routes to participate in the event. Riders will join more than
65,000 other Tour de Cure cyclists and volunteers from around the country in taking part.
Individuals and teams are composed of co-workers, family and friends taking the ride of their
life by helping raise funds for the nearly 30 million Americans with diabetes, including those
right here in Buffalo Niagara.
Independent Health is proud to be the Presenting Sponsor of the Tour de Cure for the
seventh consecutive year. Our partnership with the ADA demonstrates our commitment
to the community as we work toward our common goal to find a cure for diabetes, said
Michael W. Cropp, M.D., president and CEO, Independent Health.
Diabetes affects every community in Western New York, and is a particular concern to
Seneca Gaming Corporation and the Seneca Nation of Indians. Having this event in
downtown Niagara Falls celebrates the role of the entire community in this important fight,
said Cathy Walker, president & CEO of Seneca Gaming Corporation.
