Abstract
The research aims to present the potential of Phu Ra-ngum tourist attraction. The research's
findings are later appointed as strategies and projects to develop the potential of Phu Ra -ngum, Huay
Kae, Chonnabot, Khon Kaen to achieve the future sustainability. The research is classified as qualitative
type which gathers in-depth interviews from 20 key informants of local scholars, chiefs of sub-district,
village heads, and concerned authorities. The data from the in-depth interviews are classified for
analyzing and synthesizing using the expressive strategies. The result points out that, for the first aspect of
Phu Ra-ngum's attraction quality, the place is well-known as sacred ground where visitors come here for
practicing meditation or ordainment. There is also a ritual of worshipping the Mother of Phu Ra -ngum
which has been practiced for hundreds of year from generation to generation. The tradition of Phu Ra ngum has always been with Huay Kae in which it has been carried out due to the belief that the
worshipping is done in honour of the Mother of Phu Ra-ngum for the communitys well-being. For the
second aspect of Phu Ra-ngam's readiness for tourism, the place provides a developed transportation
system to facilitate the easier access for the expansion of hotels, resorts, and homestay. Occupation
groups for people in the community are also promoted in which they manufacture their own products,
which helps increase their manufacturing value. The community itself is a close, loving, and sharing
society. In the third aspect of management, Phu Ra-ngam is under the joint collaboration with the
Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation. This enriches the villagers to love and
protect their local treasure and to adapt themselves with the followed development. Rules and
regulations maintaining the tourist attraction as well as its long-term local culture are established.
