Students Union Brief Title: National Student Survey / Your Student Survey

Promotional Material
Brief
As part of a College wide campaign to increase student engagement with the National Student Survey
(NSS) & Your Student Survey (YSS) and to improve response rates, the Students Union has been
asked to commission a promotional campaign. The main aim of the campaign is to ensure that
students understand the importance of completing the surveys along with giving productive and
valuable responses. This will allow the College to initiate real student led change in the student
experience during your time at College.
Produce a distinctive visual concept for the NSS & the YSS. Your designs should provide a consistent
visual concept or identity that aligns the two surveys under the same promotional material. The brief
requires you to submit a poster design for the campaign, which should include;

Make Your Voice Heard
Dont Sit On The Fence
Have Your Say
2. The titles National Student Survey & Your Student Survey
Alternatively, you may like to incorporate your own strapline that you feel compliments the aim and
desirable outcomes for the campaign.
The designer of the successful visual concept will be asked to produce artwork for a range of print
and screen based deliverables that will be taken through to professional production. All design work
will be used throughout the Colleges efforts to promote the two surveys to all students. This is a
fantastic opportunity to gain experience working on a client led brief and to see your work displayed
throughout the college. The successful designer will be awarded 500.
The deadline for all submissions will be 4pm January 20

th.

Background & Considerations


The National Student Survey (NSS) is a survey open to all final year undergraduates to provide

feedback and reflection on their experience whilst studying. The NSS is the 3 largest survey in the
UK with over 400,000 participants.
Your Student Survey (YSS) is a survey initiated by the College and takes a similar approach to
feedback and reflection of the NSS. The YSS is open to all Level 4 & 5 students only, giving students
the opportunity to provide honest feedback about their learning experience in College.

The College wishes to improve upon the success of both the NSS & YSS by running a campaign to
boost engagement and involvement by creating an individual brand and promotional identity.
The College campaign will incorporate the two surveys with the aim of creating an exciting and
engaging experience to all students to ultimately boost completion rates and successful feedback.
Using your experience as a student at Leeds College of Art, how can you create an exciting design to
interest students?
What do you find visually appealing?
How can you create an attention grabbing promotion?
You will need to consider the application of your visual concept to a promotional package comprising
of:

Web page & social media

You will therefor need to consider responses that work across a range of scales and media.


Deliverables & Desirable Format
In order to be considered to design the whole promotional package as described above you are
required to submit:
1x A3 Poster design for NSS & YSS campaign
Your completed design should be submitted as a 300 dpi PDF by email to leedsartsu@gmail.com
Your file should not exceed 15MB
All work should be submitted before 4pm January 20
