Klidsa ("servant of Kali" Sanskrit: ) was a Classical Sanskrit writer, widely regarded

as the greatest poet and dramatist in the Sanskrit language. His floruit cannot be dated with
precision, but most likely falls within the 5th century AD.[1]
Scholars have speculated that Klidsa may have lived either near the Himalayas,
or in the vicinity of Ujjain, or in Kalinga. The three speculations are based
respectively on Klidsa's detailed description of the Himalayas in his
Kumrasambhava, the display of his love for Ujjain in Meghadta, and his highly
eulogistic descriptions of Kalingan emperor Hemngada in Raghuvaa (sixth
sarga).

composed by Priyadas in 1712.[22] Nabhadas was a contemporary of Tulsidas and

dedicated to Lord Krishna. Surdas is said to have written and composed a hundred thousand

extant. He is considered a saguna bhakti poet and so also known as Sant Surdas, a name which

There is some disagreement regarding the exact birth date of Surdas, some scholars
believing it to be 1478 AD, with others claiming it to be 1479 AD. It is the same in
the case of the year of his death; it is considered to be either 1581 AD or 1584 AD.
According to the limited authentic life history of Surdas, it is said that he was born in
1478/79 in the village of Runakta,Mathura although some say it was Runkta near
Agra. He started praising Lord Krishna when he was young.
Kabr (also Kabra) (Hindi: , Punjabi: , Urdu: ( ) c. 1440 c. 1518)[1][2][3][4]
was a mystic poet and saint of India, whose writings have greatly influenced the

Bhakti movement. The name Kabir comes from Arabic al-Kabr which means "The
Great" the 37th name of God in Islam.
Kabir's early life is not firmly established.[7]:14 In Indian tradition, he is commonly
supposed to have lived for 120 years from 1398 to 1518, which "permits him to be
associated with other famous figures such as Guru Nanak and Sikander Lodi",
however most historians state this to be highly unlikely. [7]:14 Historians are uncertain
about his dates of birth and death. Some state 1398 as a date of birth, [8]:5 whereas
others favour later dates, such as 1440.[9] Some assign his death date to the middle
of the 15th century for example, 1440[8]:5 or 1448[7]:15 whereas others place it in
1518.[10]:106 Lifespans commonly suggested by scholars include from 1398 to 1448,
[8]:5
and from 1440 to 1518.[9]:2728
