candidates,unpreparedforthequestion,skewerthemselvesbyrambling,recapping
theirlifestory,delvingintoancientworkhistoryorpersonalmatters.
BESTANSWER: Startwiththepresentandtellwhyyouarewellqualifiedforthe

younowfeelalittleashamedof.

TRAPS: Therearesomequestionsyourinterviewerhasnobusinessasking,andthisis
one.Butwhileyoumayfeellikeanswering,noneofyourbusiness,naturallyyoucant.
Someinterviewersaskthisquestiononthechanceyouadmittosomething,butifnot,at
leasttheyllseehowyouthinkonyourfeet.
Someunpreparedcandidates,flusteredbythisquestion,unburdenthemselvesofguilt
fromtheirpersonallifeorcareer,perhapsexpressingregretsregardingaparent,
spouse,child,etc.Allsuchanswerscanbedisastrous.
BESTANSWER: Aswithfaultsandweaknesses,neverconfessaregret. Butdont

Whenyougetthissilenttreatmentafteransweringaparticularlydifficultquestion,such

Mostunpreparedcandidatesrushintofillthevoidofsilence,viewingprolonged,
uncomfortablesilencesasaninvitationtoclearupthepreviousanswerwhichhas
