Q. Who were the low and high participating members of the group?

How did the group

manage the high/low participators?
The group formed for Operations assignment had people from diverse
backgrounds. Our team of 5 was a mix of participants with work experience
and freshers. This brought diversity and new insights into our thought
processes. We maintained a good group dynamics which increased task
efficiency and decreased the amount of time lost due to stress and conflict.
Abhishek and Raghav , who had relevant industry experience , were sincere
and task oriented and generally took the initiative to start the assignment.
Operations assignment was calculation oriented and required high analytical
skills to solve the assigned problems
Kabir was a good executioner and had good analytical skills , which
helped him to solve long calculation oriented numericals.
Initially Saurav and Shivam participated less in this project as they were
involved in extra-curricular activities. However, the group tried to ensure
uniform participation by implementing the following steps:
1> Before any discussion took place, each member individually wrote down
his ideas on the problem.
2> Discussion only took place after all ideas were presented by the group
members.
3> The ideas were discussed individually for clarity and were then evaluated.
This helped us to decide the overall layout and format of the project and led
to effective task allocation as per the strenghts and interests of the
individuals. By adopting the nominal group technique , we increased our
efficiency and reduced conflict.
This activity helped in bringing out the best from the low participators i.e.
Shivam and Saurav. Their inputs were taken into consideration and they were
given the responsibility to co-ordinate with the group members , collate the
data and prepare a good presentation. Their relationship oriented
approach helped in boosting the morale of the team and kept the team
together even during difficult circumstances.
High degree of Cohesiveness and Performance norms helped our team to
achieve high Team effectiveness
