Ever since he was 7 years old, he had been a shepherd, tending his father's flock in the hills above the village. Now he was 12, and he was growing restless with his fe. He looked down with envy at the activities of the villagers. “I can’t go down, but maybe | could get them to come up here and break this boredom,” he considered. “Wolf! Wolf!” Endy yelled down to the farmers working in the fields below. The farmers looked up and saw Endy waving : furiously on the hillside above. They dropped their tools and came running to help him rescue a sheep 4 from the swift and deadly predator. When they reached the boy, he was delighted. “Oh, you've | come, and now the wolf run off," he said, The a men searched for wolf tracks, but when they found f none, they left “Now that was entertaining!” Endy thought. a Over the next several days, Endy continued to call for assistance. Each time the farmers came running, but they never saw wolf tracks. “Tell us the truth.
