This morning you raced over to the art table when you arrived. I asked you if you were writing or drawing;
you explained you were drawing a butterfly. I asked you what shapes you need to make a butterfly, and
as you began to tell me about the wings you told me how you saw a butterfly this morning. You were
smiling as you told me how beautiful the butterfly looked as it flapped its wings. Once you finished your
picture you came and found me to show me your finished work. You told me you were going to show Mum
your picture before racing off pretending to be a butterfly with Ebado.
Review of learning
Najma you have always enjoyed writing and arts as a form of self-expression, and today was no different.
You were very confident as you expressed your ideas with clarity and precision to your friends and myself.
I can see you are very interested in butterflies, responding with wonderment and awe as you expressed
this curiosity. I especially liked how you took responsibility for your art work by writing your name on it and
pacing it neatly in your bag.

Where to next
I was talking to T. Huda about your interest in butterflies and she told me how at
home she has some caterpillars she could bring in. T. Lynda also has swan
plants which Monarch butterflies love and will bring some for us to plant.
Hopefully if we care for the caterpillars and plants we can encourage butterflys to
visit our garden at school.
Insects and animals in general are a large group interest so I am confident your knowledge
and vocabulary will be extended by your teachers as your interest develops.
