Compare

and Order Decimals

Kids need to know that in order to compare decimals, they should use
two strategies:
1. Think about decimals as money (so 10.4 is $10.40 and 09.087 is
$9.09)
2. If strategy #1 does not work because there are too many similar
numbers, line up the numbers vertically so that the decimals are
lined up, the put placeholder zeros in blank spaces. Start
comparing from left to right.

Example: compare 4.5, 4.05, 4.50, 40.5, 04.045, and 0.45 from
least to greatest
