The Power of Unity
In todays society there are a lot of factors that causes ones theory on life to change how
they feel, express and view the environment as a whole. In a world full of silence were none is
heard can weaken a community fighting for what they believe in. We look up to the law
enforcement for our protection and guidance to help create paths of safety for us. Yet when being
mislead and trying to be heard begins to bring distress and unwanted outcomes, is when you
have to being to fight for the cause at hand. In a world of today, being divided is not the answer
to circumstances that overshadows positive behavior, or even gets out avoiding negative
behavior. Being unified with groups or individuals who use their actions to convey their
standpoint will magnetize an audience bringing forth views throughout, strengthening their
position in which they stand to believe in.
When coming in tune with your personal values that you have as an individual can
become uproar to those who are of another realm. Ones own personal values can enlighten ones
life but if overpowers ones situation can also bring about wanted outcomes. Having your own
personal values is always a great backbone to have in most case scenarios, but if no common
foundation is ever created ,then the roots that one has been educated and developed from will be
tainted and weaken by despair. There are many aspects that take into effect on the daily struggle
of surviving. Entering into an environment that is unknown to the human eye, at times can
become more of a burden to one than a great experience. With this being said cultural shocks

have created a mass effect on an individuals way of living. The protection with the law
enforcement has created a mass effect that has caused the individuals living in the community to
become more of a threat than of hope. If we were to provide more focus toward the need and
minimize our focus toward the number then we will be seeing a turnaround within our law
enforcement through the communities.
Many Americans look to the police officers for protection, but recently unarmed teenager
lives have been taken by police officers. Cases such as Tamir Rice, Ezell Ford, Trayvon Martin,
and recently Michael Brown, have all triggered and upset the communities in which these young
African American males have all died from a bullet being shot from our protectors in whom we
call our law enforcement. The photographer of the photo captured a lot of emotions without
using words. When an audience glanced at this image can grasp the pathos that is displayed all
throughout the photo. The photo was taken in Ferguson, Missouri during a march in September
of 2014. Protesters are seen marching and chanting all while standing up for what they believe
in. The officers in the background are dressed as if they are ready for war verses the protesters
who are unarmed fighting for their voices to be heard heard. The neighborhood gathered
together to have a peaceful march, laying their lives down on the ground with surrender arms
held high displaying an act of serenity.
In the remembrance of Michael Brown, when he was gunned down by the police officer
on his way to school Michael raise his hands as a sign of surrendering to avoid any fatal actions
that may come his way. However, in his favor that was not granted and young Michael Brown is
no longer of the living. Because of the careless acts of our police officers in the world today our
communities are falling apart. With justice not being served, people from all over have become

highly emotional and outraged due to the lives that our law enforcements are taking away and the
families that they are tearing apart. This photographer expresses great deal of emotion giving
viewers a feel of empathy for what has occurred. The one component that is rather eye catching
is that there is no one common race that has been affected by the police brutality. In the image
you can see a diverse group of individuals coming together as they are fighting in unity for
justice. Their facial expression displays a cry for help dealing with the dullness in their hearts
which is also displayed through the sunless scenery. You can also see the direction in which the
photographer was taking, shooting the image from the ground up, conveys a message of one
who has fallen to ground zero and now looking up for hope, healing, and righteousness.
Having the tools to make change happen on many levels eliminates unwanted outcomes.
Fighting for a cause and standing in unity will help bring about a great change in what our
society needs today. As protectors of a community, police officers and other law enforcement
agents should develop functioning skills to manage communities in a more progressive way. The
capability to understand and acknowledge individuals before engaging in deadly attacks is a skill
that needs to be enforced when dealing with the lives at stake. Police officers play a major role in
the communities dealing with individuals who just need guidance, direction, problem solving
and just a friend to hear. As environment protection police officers have to continue the good
works that are promoted of them to ensure trust can still be instill in them.
Fighting for truth and rightful doing is what our elders have taught us. An adolescent is
offered a chance to take advantage of different choices. Each choice is a step through the
developmental process, and each is vital, posing obstacles and opportunities to grow. Adulthood
is the ultimate achievement of adolescence and the beginning of the search for self-identity.
Although we have own experiences and own personal knowledge of life situations if police

officers keep getting away with wrongly doing then who will be blamed for the untaught
adolescence missing their shot at adulthood? Having your own personal values is always a great
backbone to have in most case scenarios, but allowing your work to shine through the lives of the
individuals you help is a value that should over look all. Dreams are mastered by having, and
using determination. In order for dreams to come to pass determination has to be present. Being
unified with groups or individuals who use their actions to convey their standpoint will
magnetize an audience bringing forth views throughout, strengthening their position in which
they stand to believe in. In living the dream, fighting for the dream has to take place. A great
fighter quoted:
You lose nothing when fighting for a cause ... In my mind the losers are those who don't
have a cause they care about. Muhammad Ali
