REFLECTIONS / COMMENTS Testing Accommodation Schedule

I had the opportunity to work with the Guidance Counselor on building the 3-8
testing accommodation schedule. Typically she takes the special education needs
and puts them into her overall plan. Working with her gave me the opportunity to
understand the entire process from start to finish and how the testing
accommodations work into the overall plan. There are many factors to consider
such as staffing availability, locations, times, testing accommodations, secure
administration procedures and having an organized process in place that can easily

be communicated to all. The Guidance Counselor identified many areas of the

process that need improved, something that I will attempt to be part of in order to
assist the district.
RTI
Grade level RTI meetings went very well and appeared to be productive. We went
through individual students in each tier and I implemented a data tracking sheet.
The sheet will allow us to more easily track the tiers, areas of concern, dates of
interventions, actual interventions and who is providing the interventions. Areas
were identified where there appears to be lack of interventions per tier that
students are in. I will follow-up with administration to see where staff can be
utilized to fill these gaps. A teacher has identified discrepancies Belfasts pyramid
tier model. I will collaborate with administration in order to adjust the pyramid to fit
with policy and procedures that were previously established. Teachers would like to
start a colored tracking system, I will look into colored stickers for folders.
Community Project
Our first PTO meeting was held with great success, several parents and teachers
attended. The teacher assisting me in starting the PTO presented initial information
that we put together as a starting point. We explained that this is to be driven by
all, not just those starting the PTO. We set goals for our next meeting: Establish
mission statement, talk about brochure for the future, discuss if majority would like
to be a PTO or PTA, go over any questions and elect positions. The team also
brainstormed a list of activities that they would like to look into for student oriented
events. The date for the next PTO meeting was scheduled. I took minutes and will
distribute to all that expressed an interest in further communications
