Running head: Journal on Advanced Health Care Economics

many things have been wandering on my head. One of the things were the current health
economic situation of the Philippines. Health as a fundamental right of every citizen in a country.
I have been observed that health is not a priority of the government, though the government has
been putting efforts in reaching out to its constituents. The government have been giving
Philhealth cards to the poor but this is not a solution to the less privilege. The government
should put more efforts in conducting researches. They say medicines in our country is so
expensive but we have a lot of resources, we have traditional medicines like the herbal
medicines. The government should fund researches in which these herbal medicines be processed
and let it be known to public. Second thing, it is for a fact that we do not have the latest trends in
technology and we are backwards in terms of these such technologies in comparing to our
neighboring countries but at least the people should be well informed on the services of the
government hospitals in our country. It is for a fact that in the Philippines the cost of health care
is so expensive. The less privilege who dont have the means to go to the hospital would
perhaps seek the help of a quack doctor instead of going to the hospital and be cured by a trained
medical doctor. I dont have any pretenses for the going to the quack doctors but there are some
rituals that quack doctors could detriment the health of the sick people. I have a personal
experience on that. Having a sick friend ,who believes on the healing power of a quack doctors,
my friend dragged me to a quack doctor and out of curiosity, I accompanied her. Those times
there were too many people in the place with different illnesses, from various ages. One thing
that caught my attention was that when the quack doctor held the patients, he never washed his
hand. there has been a patient with severe wound, he caressed the wound with a coconut oil and

never washed his hand touching the other patients ,of course there are possibilities of acquiring
cross contamination.
