2 Samuel 9

Some stories have a way of cutting through all the distractions in our lives and penetrating our
very hearts. Thats the kind of story we have in 2 Samuel 9. This story resonates so deeply with
us because its our story. Whether were always aware of it or not, we can all identity with
Mephibosheth. And we can all be in awe of our great God whose grace transforms our lives.

2 Samuel 11:1-27

Davids name is often connected to two other names. David and Goliath. David and
________________. Enough said. Two very different associations, two very different outcomes
for David. In the later case, the outcomes would affect many people for the rest of their lives.
1. What is the writer trying to say to the reader in v.1? (only the facts?)
2. What do his actions in v.2 tell you about his state of mind at this time?
3. What were Davids options after seeing Bathsheba, and after hearing whom and whose
she was? (v.3)
4. Based on his actions in v.6, what is motivating David at this point?
5. What strategies did he employ to try to accomplish his goals? (vs. 6-25)
6. What two different perspectives are offered in vs. 26-27?
