Instruction to add new parallel port

After you set up PCI Parallel Port, go to C:\Program Files\Rainbow


Technologies\Sentinel System Driver.
Double Click on SetupSysdriver

Click on Configure driver

To add a user-defined port, click on the Add button. When adding a userdefined port, the Add Port window will appear with default values.
The configuration parameters are described below.

The Use this port? field is a radio button selection. If Yes is selected, the
Sentinel Driver will search this port for keys otherwise the port will not be
searched for Rainbow keys. The value for this field does not effect any other
operation on this port. For example, printing can always occur to the parallel
port regardless of the Use this port? field value.
The Bus Address is computer dependent and for Intel machines is usually one
of the hexadecimal values 3bc, 378 or 278.
If you do not sure what type of Bus Address in your Computer. Go to
System

Right clicking on your Parallel Port (LPT1) as show on the picture above
and go to Properties.

The Bus address is show on the highlight I/O Range (AC00 AC07). Refer
back to step 3 you will see the Bus address is Match with the Physical address
in the Picture.
Click OK when you done with the setting.
Click Start NT Parallel Driver

If the configuration is changed, it will be necessary to reboot for the new


configuration to take effect.
If there is an error in the configuration, it will not be detected until the system
is rebooted. If an error is detected, Rainbow keys will not be able to be
accessed on the port having the configuration error.
