Paper Assignment
Due: During or Before the Final Exam at the End of the Semester
Topic: the topic of your paper is entirely up to you! The only requirement is that you tie
it into something weve discussed in class:
- Philosophy
- Socrates/Plato
- Peirce/belief formation/indoctrination/method of authority/method of tenacity
- African philosophy
- Ancient religions/Judaism/Christianity/Buddhism/Hinduism/Islam/etc.
Requirements: 4 pages, double-spaced, 12-font. You must also cite at least one primary
source somewhere in your paper.
Possible Topics: these are some of the topics my Fisk students wrote about last semester
to give you an idea of what possibilities you can draw from:
- Gadflies of music
- Socratic Method and modern education
- Comparative analysis of Buddhism and Christianity
- Technology and belief-manipulation in Peirce and 21st century America
- Racism, segregation, and discrimination in America
- The nature of reincarnation in Buddhism and Hinduism
- Etc.
Note: it goes without saying; dont plagiarize anything from the Internet. Make sure
everything is in your own words, not only because thats the right thing to do but also
because I use software to grade that can detect plagiarism and immediately locks me out
from reading your paper so I literally cant read or grade a paper with any plagiarism in it.
