Libertads rich culture is showcased in a yearly Banigan Festival. The Banigan
derived from the word banig (mat) the main product of the municipality. The
festivals concept is based on the importance of banig (bariw) weaving as major
means of livelihood of the Libertadnons.
The festival serves as an encouragement to the banig weavers that our OneTown-One-Product is a world class product that can only be found in Libertad. It is
already known in the Province and on its way towards the international market.
The Banigan festival is famous for banig-making demonstration that attracts
visitors and tourist. There are exhibits of products made out of banig such as hats,
bags, slippers and gowns. The festivities aims to give tribute to the town banig
weavers who have preserved the tradition handed down by our forefathers.
