In the years that I have served you and the Archdiocese, | have never done anything that would be contrary to your directives, even if| disagreed with them, and even when | disagreed with a decision you made, | still complied wholeheartedly and with enthusiasm, so as not to give any appearance of dissent on my part. A show of unity is essential to the effective implementation of any act. | wished you had asked me firs iFitem #5 was still on the agenda. ‘And Archbishop, why would | disobey you? How would | profit by doing so? | don’t get paid by the Archdiocese for my services, and on the issue of the RSM, who was it at the last AFC meeting who came to the defense of the seminary? And who has been working to get the opposing parties to reconcile, namely Ed Terlaje on the one hand, and the seminary on the other. Me. Why would I want to embarrass you? And have you forgotten the commitment that my family has made to the Seminary, and the various other commitments it has made to the Archdiocese? Isn’t that proof of our commitment to you and the Church? And the fact that my family does not want to be recognized, isn’t that proof enough that we are not doing it for recognition? Regarding my e-mail to the members of the AFC regarding cbsenteeism, | wrote it because Deacon Steve informed me yesterday that Monsignor Dave has, again, announced{via e-mail) that he will not be attending the AFC meeting. He had Seminary meeting to attend instead. | was frustrated because unlike Monsignor Dave, the other members do not get paid by the Archdiocese and so their time is valuable. Deacon Steve called around an trate sure that the date and time for the AFC meeting would be acceptable to everyone, including Monsignor Dave. Then, at the 11" hour, he again backs out. I wrote the letter addressing it to the members in general because | did not want to make it seem that 1 was singling ‘ut Monsignor Dave. It is imperative that we get 100% attendance, especially the presence of the Vicar General, because he is our canon lawyer. Quite frankly, if Monsignor Dave had been at our last meeting when Ed Terlaje was present, we could have avoided a lot of drama and confusion because he would have been able to answer many of the questions raised. | guess Monsignor Dave still felt singled out. volunteered to serve the Archdiocese, not for any personal gain or recognition, but to serve our Church and God. | will continue to do so, despite the distrust that you have of me, and if you deem my services are no longer warranted for any reason, please just tell me. | will obey you without hesitation. You know Archbishop. Monsignor James resigned as your Vice Chancellor because of the scuttlebutt being tossed around as to his motives and ambitions. He resigned to. effectively eliminate any possible reason people will raise as to his motives and ambitions. He put God and his Church first by resigning. | have no motives or ambitions for power, fame or glory within the Archdiocese. The work involved does not make it worth my time and money if all! was doing it for was for power, glory, and fame. It is very hard work and very tiring, and I would be better off sipping 2 glass of pina colada on the sands of Pago Bay than for me to be harried by all these issues of the Archdiocese. In the end my dear Archbishop Anthony, all | want and desire is that when I die, our Lord will say: well done, my dear and faithful friend, as | know he said to our beloved brother, Deacon Jeff. Jeff, ina short time, stood out like a lightening rod and defended you and the Church in Guam. He was persecuted especially by his own fellow clergy. | believe that God saw his faithfulness and when seeing the weariness of tis body, said, yes, come and rest. | missed him Archbishop especially because he was there for you and you trusted hirr implicitly. You may not trust me Archbishop, but | will always be there for you. Merry Christmas.
