For fortyfive years, the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW), a 501(c)(3) organization, has
representedtheinterestsoftheboardandstafffromstate,county,andcitywomenscommissions.NACWhasbeen
theonlynationaladvocateofwomenscommissionswho,inturn,articulatetheinterestsandconcernsofmillionsof
womenandgirlsintheirowncommunities.Ourmembershipismadeupofarichblendofallages,economic,ethnic,
andsocialgroups.Throughtheirwork,theytouchmillionsofwomenandgirlsbyplayingasignificantroleinlocal,state
andnationalpolicyandlegislativedevelopment.Theyarethebridgesbetweengovernmentandtheircommunities.

Forfortyfiveyears,NACWmembershavegatheredincitiesacrossthecountrytomeet,sharebestpracticesandlearn
abouttrendsandissuesfacingwomen.Today,NACWisatthecrossroadsofarenewedsenseofpurpose.Oneinwhich
we are becoming a vital player in the success of our members. It is only fitting that NACW chose Indiana, the
Crossroads of America, for its 45th Annual Conference and
EmpowermentSummit.TheconferenceisscheduledforJuly1923,
2015attheCrownePlazaDowntownUnionStationinIndianapolis,
Indiana. It is also fitting that this years theme is At the
CrossroadsofEqualityandJustice.Aftertwoyearsofstrategic
introspection, we will be laying the groundwork to propel NACW
intoaneweraasanorganizationwithincreasedcapacitytoserve
the needs of our members who serve the needs of millions of
womenandgirlsthroughoutthenation.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF COMMISSIONS FOR WOMEN (NACW)

The National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW) was originally formed in 1970 as the Interstate
AssociationofCommissionsontheStatusofWomen(IACSW)torepresentwomenscommissionacrossthecountry,
and to provide them with support and resources so that they will survive and thrive. In 1975, the IACSW became
NACW and increased its membership to include state,
county and city commissions for women. NACW
ThemissionofNACWistosustain,strengthenand
represents our member commissions as their national
advocateforwomenscommissionsintheirwork
advocateandprovidesanationalvoiceofsupportforthe
efforts of our governmentappointed commission to promoteequalityandjusticeforallwomenand

roleinpromotingwomen'sequityandjusticeintheirlocal empoweredintheircommunities.
