Was It a Crime?
Introduction/Case: Anna Garcia, a Hispanic female, age 38, and weighed about 164
pounds. She stood about 54. She was found dead inside of her house at about 11:00 AM by her
next door neighbor. Now we are trying to find out whether it was a homicide, suicide, accident,
or natural causes.

Summary of Findings: The fingerprints found at the crime scene belonged to Alex
Garcia. Alex Garcia is the ex-husband of the victim. He was at the scene of the crime the day
before the day of her death.
The blood belonged to either Annas or Alexs. We weren't sure who it was because they
had the same blood type. Anna and Alex are both type B.
The shoe print found at the crime scene belonged to Anna. It was easy to find out because
you would just compare the shoe print from the scene to the 4 shoes displayed. The pattern of
Annas shoe matched the shoe from the crime scene exactly.
The hair that was found at the crime scene belonged to Anna. We compared all the hair
samples from the possible suspects, and Annas hair, to the hair from the crime scene. The
medulla of the hair from the crime scene was an exact match to Annas.
The unknown substance that was found at the crime scene was aspirin, also known as,
acetacylic acid. We tested different substances with the same indicators as the pills that
were found at the scene of the crime. We found out that she was not, in fact, using any kind of

illegal drugs.
The blood spatter found was dropped at 60 centimeters. We found that out by measuring
the height of the drops found at the scene of the crime. Then, we found the mean of the
measurements and found out the height it fell from.
The DNA that was found also belonged to Anna. We found that by contrasting the bands
of the DNA in the blood to all the possible suspects DNA and Anna Garcias DNA. The DNA
from the scene of the crime matched hers exactly.

Inconclusive Data: The blood typing was inconclusive because there were two people
who had the same type of blood, however we did come to the conclusion of two people, Anna
Garcia, the victim, and Alex Garcia, Anna Garcias ex-husband.

Conclusion: I believe that Anna Garcia, the victim, died of natural causes, because she
had vomit on her shoulder, aspirin pills on the floor, and how she was wearing a sweater in 90
degree weather. She probably used the aspirin pills for her radiating back pain, she
vomited because she probably took too much pills. I dont really understand why she had a
sweater on in that kind of weather, but it must be due to a medical condition.
