Shakespeares 450th birth anniversary

Who would have thought that after more than four centuries Shakespeare
would be honored by a group of students miles and miles away from the British
islands?

That is how this humble project began.

Our enthusiastic teacher from the subject of Culture came to us suggesting the
idea of celebrating the 450th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth. The program
would be declared of cultural and municipal interest.

Little by little the proposal was growing and the interest became an exciting
eagerness.

Last year we came to know a couple of Shakespeares sonnets which resulted

really interesting. Then we started to deal with Romeo and Juliets classic story.

Of course there would always be this uncertainty about how things would come
into being, but our trust was in our teachers hands. Last year she had led these
rookies through the astonishing experience of creating and performing our own first
play.

The plan was on the right track so the next thing was the role distribution. Who was
going to do what. Although two of our classmates would be our representatives, the
rest of us would be right behind them to support them. That is how Ana and Nacho
were appointed to recite some sonnets by heart at the reception. Technical skills
and social talent would be displayed by the rest of the people.

The rehearsals were carried on by previous agreement, to recreate the different

situations just to bear on mind all those details we should improve for the act to be
serious.

We agreed on wearing black, and the delivery of coffee for the people invited.
Nothing should be left up to fate.

When the great day came things have been organized on time so all that was left
was that particular tension you feel in your stomach before doing a great deed.
