Main aim(s)
By the end of the lesson students will:

Revise the meaning, form and pronunciation of past simple, past continuous,
past perfect & past perfect continuous

Be able to use these narrative tenses more effectively to talk about things
that happened to them in the past.

Subsidiary aim(s)
Ss will practice listening for gist and detail in a story about an eventful plane
journey.

Ss will have some focus on weak forms when practising the contractions in
the above tenses.

Personal aim(s)
Try to be more teacher-centred and reduce my teacher talk time.

Try and elicit more from the students and build in more pairwork.

Evidence
Ss will be able to complete the controlled practice activities and then use the
tenses to write and then tell a story about something that happened to them in the
past.

Pictures for the warm up activity, Unit 3 in coursebook (page 27 28), Self made
practice activities.
Assumptions
The students will all be familiar with the four tenses, although they will still
confuse them when using them.
