Saliva pH

INTRODUCTION
Saliva is 98% water and also contains important antibacterial components
and digestive enzymes which help to neutralize acids in mouth. It
regulates the pH of the mouth and plague build up. If the pH of saliva
become acidic, it will ruin you teeth and your mouth. In this experiment we
try to find if the snacks we ate affect our saliva pH. To do this experiment,
we need to eat a different kind of snack and measure the pH of saliva
every 5 minutes by indicator stripe. After 25 minutes, two people need to
brush their teeth and the rest people need to drink the water and then

CONCLUSION OF RESULTS
For the results that we get, it is the same as the hypothesis that we make
before the experiment. If we eat sugary snack, the pH of our saliva will be
more acidic. In our experiment, we used Crispy Peanut, sour cream
Pringles, and Dewberry. The result came up with a person who eat Crispy
Peanut has the least decrease in saliva pH and sour cream Pringles has the
most decrease in saliva pH because the sour flavour on Pringles make out
of acid. At first a person who eat Dewberry has a decrease on pH quicker
than others but after 5-10 minutes, it get stable on the pH of 8.1. After two
people brush their teeth the pH of saliva did not change and the result is
the same as a person who drink a water. The result can be skewed by the
food that you eat before you do the experiment or the differences between
saliva of a person.
