Track Record of Success:

Founded in 1999, the Greenpower Challenge has grown to include more than 600
schools reaching 9000 students across the United Kingdom. Recognizing the
success of the U.S. pilot at Huntsville City Schools Systems Huntsville Center for
Technology, the Greenpower USA Foundation was formed, in partnership with
Huntsville City Schools, in May 2014 to expand this program into the United States.
Huntsville City Schools students now have the opportunity to participate in the
Greenpower Challenge. Students utilize state of the art technology to design, build,
and race an electric car. Students utilize the engineering design process and CAD
software while learning about advanced manufacturing technologies like carbon
fiber layup and 3D printing. Entry into this exciting program is through the
Introduction to Design course which is open to high school students across the
district.
