U.S. MARINE CORPS JUNIOR ROTC (MCJROTC) The goals of MCJROTC Program is to develop the
leadership abilities and build the character of high school students who choose to participate as JROTC
cadets. The curriculum is designed to teach participating students/cadets basic leadership skills, an
organizational framework, greater self-awareness through self-discipline and self-respect. Cadets must
maintain high standards of conduct, personal appearance, physical fitness, and academic achievement to
remain in the program. Students may earn a Physical Education/LIFE credit for successful completion of
one year of JROTC.
Fee: $30 per year. Covers additional expenses not covered by the respective branches of the
military.
MARINE CORPS JROTC LEADERSHIP EDUCATION I (LE-I) This course provides an introduction to
MCJROTC purposes, requirements, and traditions. Emphasis is placed on leadership, core values,
patriotism, public service, career exploration, and communication. Grade: 9 Prerequisites: 14 years
old, U.S. citizen, and physically fit
MARINE CORPS JROTC LEADERSHIP EDUCATION II (LE-II) The second year of the MCJROTC
Program builds on LE-1 and provides instruction and training in military history, rank and structure; corps
symbols; citizenship; effective writing skills; employment skills; and branches of federal government.
Cadets are introduced to civilian marksmanship training, land navigation training with the map and
compass. Prerequisite: MCJROTC I Grade: 10

MARINE CORPS JROTC LEADERSHIP EDUCATION III (LE-III) This course focuses on Marine Corps
rank and organization; team training; inspections and evaluations; leadership styles; military service
etiquette; college preparation; land navigation; and military service structure. Cadets are exposed to more
practical applications and assume leadership roles.
Grade: 11 Prerequisite: MCJROTC I and II
MARINE CORPS JROTC LEADERSHIP EDUCATION IV (LE-IV) This course provides instruction and
experiences in advanced leadership skills, conflict resolution, selective service system, personnel
inspections; and Marine air-ground task force. Senior Cadets conduct formations and inspections and
supervise certain training events with younger cadets. Emphasis is placed on the national Marine Corps
competencies, portraits of patriots and great American, written communication; research projects; and
independent studies. Grade: 12 Prerequisite: MCJROTC I, II, and III
